Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme
Extended to 31 August 2022
The National Heritage Council –an entity of the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture has been tasked with the disbursement of the extended Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP3) funding.
The PESP3s intention is very specific and targets jobs creation, jobs enrichment, poverty alleviation among the following groups: youth, women indigenous groups and people living with disabilities to assist Government in stimulating jobs within the sector.
Applicants have to be South African citizens and be formerly registered to qualify for support.PESP3 initiatives should demonstrate novel techniques and innovative models that could be used to help promote sustainable development within the heritage sector and heighten the importance of cultural heritage.
The following business formations are invited to apply:
Educational Institutions participating in heritage projects; Non-Profit Companies (NPCs); Community Based Organisations (CBOs); Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs); Associations; Foundations; Community Trusts (NB: family Trusts excluded); Traditional Councils; Academic Institutions; Individuals who are involved in heritage research projects and have partnered with a qualifying; entity/organisation.
The funding will be available for project proposals in three main categories:
Living Heritage
- Documenting of traditional, cultural practices and cultural events
- Recording of Oral History and story telling
- Digitisation of African traditional cultural collections
- Traditional Music/songs
- Skills transfer sessions on the Preservation of African indigenous knowledge systems
- Documenting Great Places and Sacred places with cultural heritage significance
